Our pilots bring research and innovation to life

Research without action changes nothing. GoNaturePositive! Pilots take the science of nature-positive transformation and test it where it matters most: in real landscapes, real supply chains, and real communities.

Each pilot is a living experiment. Together, they form a growing body of evidence, demonstrating what a nature-positive economy looks like in practice, measuring what actually works, and building a shared manifesto for the systemic change the world urgently needs.

Our pilots span two interconnected approaches. We work directly within nature-based enterprise (NBE) sectors (forestry, green buildings, agroecology, apiculture, blue economy, and tourism), supporting businesses and stakeholders to transition towards nature-positive practices. In parallel, we engage mainstream businesses, benchmarking their performance against nature-positive criteria and helping them develop credible transition strategies.

Across every pilot, our goals are the same:

  • Showcase what a nature-positive economy looks like in practice
  • Translate research into measurable, real-world outcomes
  • Inspire and equip businesses, policymakers, and communities to act
  • Synthesise collective knowledge into sector guidance and leadership frameworks

Pilot projects

PILOT 01

This pilot aims to raise awareness of the impact of agro-ecological enterprises within the Nature Positive (NP) framework, strengthen the integration of partners from Southeast Asia, Africa, and South America into shared roadmaps, build the capacity of agro-ecological SMEs, and support the transition of conventional Flemish agribusinesses towards more sustainable and agro-ecological practices.

PILOT 02

This pilot aims to scale up the Aburrá Valley Apiculture Programme across Colombia and South America, promoting Nature Positive approaches in agri-food value chains, enhancing biodiversity-friendly agricultural practices, and improving livelihoods through production systems that work in harmony with nature.

PILOT 03

This pilot aims to accelerate the Nature Positive transformation of the blue economy in the West of Ireland by integrating NP principles into regional policies, advancing natural capital accounting practices, and strengthening the capacity of businesses, investors, and regional actors to apply nature valuation approaches.

PILOT 04

This pilot aims to increase knowledge and adoption of Nature Positive approaches in carbon insetting through capacity building, awareness raising, and the development of credible frameworks, labels, and guidance that support verified positive impacts on ecosystems across forestry and land-use value chains.

PILOT 05

This pilot aims to demonstrate the value of Nature Positive practices in the European green building sector by showcasing the implementation of NP indicators across value chains, generating evidence of socio-economic benefits, and engaging policymakers to create enabling regulatory frameworks.

PILOT 06

This pilot aims to strengthen the adoption of Nature Positive practices in sustainable tourism destinations by providing practical guidance, supporting the application of recognised frameworks and standards, and increasing the number of tourism businesses generating positive outcomes for nature.
